Dress it up, dress it down, take it to the office or to your next outing, a blazer is one of those staple pieces that should always be part of your closet and is worth investing in!
I got this vintage inspired boyfriend style blazer from Zara (yes, I’m obsessed) and while I love the simple/clean vibe of this entire look, the true protagonists here are the emerald green tassel earning from H&M. I am a huge believer that a simple accessory can take an otherwise very plain outfit to a complete other level, and this is exhibit A.
While I strongly recommend tailoring your blazers, the truth of the matter is that these alterations could often be very costly and sometimes aren’t even worth it. I.e, it could cost me about $100 – what I paid for this jacket – to get it altered. However, if you are going to grab a blazer off the wrack to wear as is, take the following fitting tips under consideration before purchasing:
Shoulders – the shoulder sims should start and end at the corner of your shoulders
Bust – each side should cover up half of a breast without pulling or sagging
Sleeves – the should cover your wrists when standing straight, but not cross the base of your thumb
Torso – just like the bust, the buttons should close effortlessly without any pulling or sagging… unless you’re going for the oversize look
