Sometimes I enjoy flirting with the fantasy that my style has evolved and become edgier and more intricate… only to find myself back to square one and in the same complete comfort zone. I hate to admit it, but I am a hopeless girly girl. I subconsciously and almost inevitably gravitate towards femininity and romance when it comes to fashion.
This is exactly what happened to me last week as I hit the streets of New York in search of an “intricate” look, when I stumbled upon this embroidered ruffled dress from Zara. Romantic, light and very practical, this little number has a lot of potential to become one of my favorite summer staples. Oops, it’s not summer yet.
Incorporating texture to an outfit is the easiest way to break the softness of it all with a little edginess. Which is why I decided to interrupt the “cutesy” feel of this look by complimenting the dress with a pair of studded black leather suede-style open-toe shoeboots from TopShop. Super comfy and edgy, these shoe style is a must-have this season. I can’t wait to wear them with my favorite shorts and skinny jeans!
I finished the look with minimum accessories and a braided crossbody studded bag in red, also from Zara.
Moral of the story: stay true to who you are and embrace your signature style. But if you want to escape the comfort zone and add a little sazón to your look, open yourself the idea of playing with textures and funky accessories to take an outfit to a different level.
